I decided to start a writing challenge for June after learning The Literal Challenge canceled the Like the Prose this year. I was quite heartbroken so why not create my own challenge and call it Prose, Prose (Prose). I sent an invite out to some writers and now have 16 committed to the challenge.

I figured I could share the prompts here as well. Maybe they’ll help inspire you.

Day in the Life

It’s finally day one of the June prose challenge.

Now that it’s here, how are you feeling? Excited? Nervous? Or just tired?

Create a character and place them into a situation that you’ve experienced. They will play your role. Maybe it was a wedding that you attended or a birthday party at a pub. I had a friend who recreated a day at a funeral with his dysfunctional family and turned it into a script.

Was there someone you secretly admired at that event that you wished you would have talked to or were they your arch nemesis?

Walk your new character through the day beginning to end, but change it up a bit to make it how you had wished it would have played out.
